Motorola Droid X Android 2.2 Update Not Arriving Until Early September

Yikes. This is certainly not the news that Droid X owners both of the current and future flavor wanted to hear.

With the Droid X shipping date getting pushed back even further, volume issues plaguing owners and Wi-Fi issues going unresolved, you didn’t think that things could get any worse in the issue department. Well, they just did.

Motorola has let the world know that the Android 2.2 update for the device, which was rumored to be dropping this week, has been pushed back to sometime in early September. Here is what they said:

First, I want to thank everyone for their help and patience as we worked though this. Much appreciated.

Some Droid X users are experiencing an issue using Exchange 2003 email. Though the email is arriving on the Droid X, no notifications are appearing. A fix for this will be included in the upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for deployment by early September.

Hey at least the Exchange issues that many of you emailed about are getting taken care of, let’s just hope the problems with the volume get fixed as well. So, a huge bummer for those of you who thought it might arrive this week.

Instead, you’ll have to wait a whole month deflecting the taunts from your friends who own an original Droid, an HTC EVO, a Nexus One or, by golly, the Motorola Droid 2.
